Belinda McClain, CBAP


Shane Sipes, CBAP

Vice President (VP) Member Services

Shane is currently a Senior Business Analyst at The Hartford. Prior to this role, he most recently served as a manager of a Business Analyst team at Waste Management. He has spent a majority of his career bringing business customers and software development teams together, helping turn ideas into tangible working solutions that provide value to internal and external customers. Shane has been a member of IIBA since 2010 and a Hartford Chapter member since 2011, most recently volunteering as an Education Committee member. He obtained the CBAP designation in January, 2011.  

John Grella, CBAP


John has 28 years experience in a number of different roles in information systems starting at The Travelers and currently at the Hartford Financial Services Group. Among his roles were developer, technical lead, project manager, business analyst and data modeler. Most recently he has served as a Senor Business Analyst on web based applications supporting property casualty online quoting and agency administration.
John holds a Masters degree in Insurance from the University of Hartford and received the Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP) designation in November, 2007. He was reelected Treasurer of the Hartford, CT Chapter in March 2008 and led a study group resulting in the awarding of the CBAP designation to three individuals.

Pamela Belknap, CBAP

Vice President (VP) Marketing and Communications

Pam has been a member of IIBA since November 2010, and she achieved her CBAP designation in October 2014.  She has been with The Hartford since 1989 in different roles--clerical, filing analyst, developer, supervisor--before becoming a Business Analyst.  She has worked with Wealth Management Group Annuities and Commercial Lines Claims, on both Waterfall and Agile projects.  She has her Professional Scrum Master (PSM I) designation, and is presently the Scrum Master for her project team, as well as a BA.      

The Vice President of Marketing & Communications is responsible for the timely dissemination of information to the Chapter membership and those interested in the discipline of Business Analysis.  The VP will lead the development and execution of a strategy for producing and delivering all chapter promotions and communications.   The VP will lead the marketing of the chapter via promotional giveaways, signage, flyers, awards, etc.  The VP is responsible for the delivery of information about the Chapter and other events related to Business Analysis, via the Chapter’s website, newsletters, surveys, local media, social networking sites, etc.  The content of these communications is to be consistent and in accordance with the objectives of the Chapter and with approval of the Chapter Board.

Brendan Griggs, CBAP

Vice President (VP) Education

Brendan has over 20 years' business analysis experience in both the private and public sector within large scale financial services/insurance organizations and governmental agencies.  Joining the IIBA in 2010, he appreciates all the resources available to stay current in Best Practices and especially enjoys performing the role of liaison between Business and Technology.  

Brendan holds a Bachelors in English and Cultural Anthropology from Fordham University and a Masters in Urban and Transportation Planning from Hunter College- City University of New York.  He received his CBAP designation in 2016.

Liz Labbe


Liz is currently a Senior Business Analyst at United Health Group in Hartford. She has been with United Health Group for over 3 years and currently she provides support for a team that provides reporting to internal customers, external customers, and government reporting. Previously at UHG she worked as an enterprise Business Analyst on large scale projects. Prior roles included working as a Business Analyst in various insurance companies, but also at ABB/CE and General Electric.   Liz achieved her CBAP designation in December 2012  and has been a chapter member since 2011.

Tina Avallone, CBAP

Past President

Tina is currently a Business Analysis Manager at Travelers Insurance Company in Hartford. She has been with Travelers for over 12 years and currently supports a team of BA's who support various rate/quote issuance systems for Travelers' Business Insurance organization.  Tina achieved her CBAP designation in February 2013.  

Yobran Colon

Past Vice President (VP) Education

Yobran is a Manager of Business Analysis at Travelers.  He presently leads a Business Analyst Forum for Business Insurance at Travelers. Prior to this role, he was a Business Analyst for over 10 years working for Lincoln Financial Group, MassMutual Financial Group and a consulting role at the Hartford.He has worked on a wide array of initiatives at both a strategic and tactical level.
Yobran graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2003 with a Bachelors in Liberal Arts and a Minor in Criminal Justice.  

Debra Delane, CBAP

Past Secretary

Debra is currently a Business Systems Analyst for Business Insurance at Travelers Insurance.
Her primary responsibility is to provide the support needed for the company’s legacy commercial automobile rate/ quote/issuance system.
Debra achieved her CBAP designation in June 2012.  

George Hresko, CBAP

Past Vice President (VP) Marketing and Communications, Past Vice President (VP) Education, Past President

George has held several officer level positions in his career, including serving as Treasurer, Director of Operations and V.P. Operations of a privately held telecommunications company. Having spent 10 years in the telecommunications industry, George had the opportunity to grow within an organization from entry level position to Officer.  Prior to transitioning over to his consulting career, he was elected to the Board of Directors, as Treasurer of the firm’s spin off venture, which he helped grow from start-up to sale.

George has a strong IT background, consulting in several different verticals ranging from Government to Insurance and Software Development. He has focused on Web based technologies and their various applications within the business community and spent several years in the Travelers eBusiness Unit. He has spent the last few years focusing on Catastrophe Risk Analysis. 

Within the Hartford Chapter, he has previously volunteered with the Marketing and Communication committee and served as both Vice President of Education, Vice President of Marketing and Communications and President. 

George holds a Masters degree in Information and Knowledge Strategy from Columbia University, New York.
